SF Exhibits & Programs
Thoreau Gallery and Seed Gallery of Photographic Art
Thoreau Center art galleries provide gallery space for local artists and arts organizations to exhibit visual arts, create interpretive and artistic experiences for the visitor, and host community outreach programs. Through lively visual arts programming, the Thoreau galleries strive to enrich experience for tenants, visitors and the community, while promoting values of sustainability.
Exhibitions are selected throughout the year by the Thoreau Center Arts Committee, based on quality of work and how best the exhibition serves this unique community and visitors to the Presidio park.

"Memory Traces", by Bay Area artist Olaitan Callender-Scott
June 17 through August 6, 2010
Thoreau Gallery
Considering memory as a trace of something passed, Olaitan Callender-Scott uses fibrous sculptures, rusted metal, prints and photographs to explore the vestiges that remain. Her work is inspired by her backyard compost bins, plant roots and lost and found metal findings.
